Everything you need to know before your safari begins — answered by our team of specialists.
No — each trek requires its own full morning and Uganda Wildlife Authority permits are issued for separate days. The itinerary dedicates Day 3 to gorillas and Day 4 to chimpanzees, giving you an unhurried and complete experience of each.
Chimpanzees are wild animals and cannot be 100% guaranteed, but Bwindi's habituated communities have a very high sighting success rate. Our expert trackers know the forest well and maintain radio contact with the chimps throughout the morning.
Uganda's gorilla and chimpanzee trekking is excellent year-round. The driest months (June–September and December–February) offer easier trekking conditions, while the quieter green season (March–May and October–November) brings lush forest and fewer visitors.
Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers (protection against nettles and insects), sturdy waterproof hiking boots, a rain jacket, gardening gloves for pushing through vegetation, and a small daypack with snacks and water. A full packing list is provided on booking.
Most nationalities require a Uganda tourist visa, available online at the Uganda e-Visa portal. If transiting Rwanda, a Rwanda visa or EAC Tourist Visa may also be required. We advise on the latest visa requirements at the time of booking.
