The Wild Muse is built for visual artists, photographers and illustrators who want to come back with work rather than snapshots. Every day is a deliberate sequence: sensory immersion, a guided creative session, and just as importantly unstructured time in which to actually make something. The route runs from Kampala's street-art corridors and the life-drawing room at Nommo Gallery, out to the savannah light of Queen Elizabeth National Park, into the montane forest of Bwindi for one hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family, and finally to the still water of Lake Bunyonyi for an open studio day and a group portfolio review. Groups are kept small four to eight practitioners and a professional creative guide travels with you for the full seven days, alongside your driver-guide.
The Experience
Swipe
Met at Entebbe International Airport and transferred to Kampala. The early evening begins straight away with a guided walk through the city's street-art corridors murals, political commentary and abstract colour on walls that change month to month. Dinner and group introductions at the hotel. Creative prompt: find three colours in Kampala you have never painted before.

Before You Go
Everything you need to know before your safari begins answered by our team of specialists.
No. The programme is designed around serious intent rather than professional credentials. What matters is that you arrive ready to work.
Four to eight participants. The creative sessions do not work above that, and the vehicle and lodge logistics are built around it.
Your own sketchbooks, paints, cameras and anything you work with. We do not supply art materials, partly for practical reasons and partly because most practitioners want their own. Traditional percussion and craft materials are provided during the Batwa exchange.
A meaningful amount, deliberately. Days 4, 6 and 7 all contain long open sessions, and Day 7 has no brief at all. Sessions are offered, not enforced.
Treks cross steep, uneven forest terrain and run from thirty minutes to six hours. A moderate level of fitness is required. Porters are available at the trailhead for a small fee and are strongly recommended.
Yes, but with restrictions: no flash, no tripods, and a distance the rangers will enforce. The hour goes very quickly most artists find they get more from watching than from shooting.
June to September and December to February give the clearest light and the easiest trekking. The green season brings dramatic skies and far fewer vehicles, at the cost of harder terrain.
Most nationalities require a Uganda tourist visa, obtained in advance through the Uganda e-Visa portal. A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry.
