The greatest wildlife spectacle on earth, in four days from Nairobi.

KENYA
The Masai Mara needs no introduction and, with four days, no compromise either. This itinerary opens with a night in Nairobi so you begin rested, then takes the road southwest through the Great Rift Valley escarpment into Narok county and the reserve itself. Two full nights in the Mara gives you three game-drive sessions an arrival afternoon, a full day, and a final morning which is what separates a real safari from a drive-past. The reserve holds the highest concentration of big cats in Africa, and between July and October the wildebeest migration crosses the Mara River within it. A private 4x4 with a professional driver-guide throughout, all park fees included, and Flying Doctors evacuation cover from the moment you land.

Journey Highlights
01The Mara holds more lion, cheetah and leopard per square kilometre than anywhere else on the continent and open plains that make them findable.
02Between July and October, over a million wildebeest and zebra move through the reserve, with river crossings at the Mara and Talek.
03Three game-drive sessions an arrival afternoon, a full day and a final morning enough time for the reserve to show you something rather than nothing.
04The drive southwest climbs to the Rift Valley escarpment viewpoint, where the floor of the Great Rift Valley opens out below you.
05A community-run visit to a nearby manyatta, arranged directly with the village so the fee stays where it should.
06Your own 4x4 with a pop-top roof and a professional driver-guide, never a shared shuttle.

Before You Go
Everything you need to know before your safari begins answered by our team of specialists.
Yes, if the Mara is all you want to see. Two nights gives you three game-drive sessions, which is the minimum for a reserve this size to show you something. If you want a second park, look at our 7-day Classic Kenya itinerary.
The road is five to six hours each way and takes in the Rift Valley escarpment. Scheduled flights from Wilson Airport reduce it to forty-five minutes and are a popular upgrade we quote them separately, and they suit travellers short on time or hard on the back.
Roughly July to October, though it varies year to year with the rains and no operator can promise crossings on specific dates. The Mara is exceptional year-round resident game is dense, and the green season from November to March brings calving, predators and far fewer vehicles.
Masai Mara National Reserve entry is USD 200 per person per 24 hours in high season, set by Narok County. It is included in your rate, and it is the single largest line in the cost of a Mara safari.
Yes. A dawn balloon flight over the plains with a champagne breakfast on landing runs from around $500 per person and is booked separately. It is expensive and, by most accounts, worth it once.
Kenya has replaced visas with an electronic travel authorisation (eTA), applied for online before travel. Most nationalities are eligible.
